Congratulations to Claire Johnson, our June 2020 Rising Star!

Claire was nominated by Jill Hoffart and Cindy Koch, with said the following:

Cindy Koch:

"I nominate Claire Johnson for the Rising Star award. She finished her Adams Central High School year with a bang!! Several of her accomplishments culminated in receiving the following awards:

• Senior Academic Award in Speech and Drama

• 2019-2020 Band Letter Recipient(1 of only 7 seniors!)

• Band Director Award; Choir Director Award

• Winner of the Optimist speech contest for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

She played the flute in the band and was a 4 year letter recipient. In addition to her musical accomplishments, she was also in FBLA and Student Council. She plans to take classes at CCC and internships through the 18+ program after high school."

"I am writing to nominate Claire Johnson for the Nebraska Hands and Voices, Guide by your Side Program's Riding Star award. During a very busy and confusing time at the end of her senior year, she committed to writing and presenting a speech for the Communication Contest for Deaf and Hard of Hearing, sponsored by the Optimist International. For her efforts, she was awarded the Katie Gurnsey Honorary Scholarship in the amount of $2500. Congratulations Claire!"
