Evelyn Richart

Congratulations to Evelyn Richart, the September 2019 Rising Star!

Evelyn was nominated by her parents for this award, who wrote the following:

"We would like to nominate our daughter, Evelyn Richart to be a Rising Star. Evelyn has competed in the National Battle of the Books sponsored by Gallaudet University. She was able to experience a trip with her teammates to Washington D.C. for the competition at the end of March. She was a great helper to her teammates by teaching them sign language so that they could communicate with other deaf and hard of hearing competitors from all over the United States. She always has her nose in a book when she has free time. Evelyn is involved in the Metro Regional Program activities, and likes to help newcomers feel comfortable. She loves being involved in and helping out at the activities. Evelyn also likes to participate in sports. She is currently trying soccer and basketball this year and has done softball and volleyball as well. She also competed in the "Girls on the Run" 5K last fall. Evelyn loves the pool, and hopes to be a swim athlete. Her dream is to become a Paleontologist and possibly a police officer. She loves math and always asks for harder math problems and likes to help other people with math, including me! She has a great, fun, quirky personality that everyone enjoys and wants everyone to embrace the differences in people. She has blossomed before our very eyes to be a smart, beautiful young lady. Evelyn, you are such a wonderful example to others! You are hard working, active in your community, helpful, and generous with your time. Thank you for showing others that your hearing loss does not limit your possibilities, continue reaching for your goals - you will surely succeed!"
